Note: I modeled this post after the letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation as a commentary on some American mainline churches. This writing is not intended to be a prophecy.

To the leadership of the American mainline churches, write:

The Lord, who in the beginning made them male and female, says this:

You once honored the Lord by planting churches, sending missionaries, and sharing the gospel, beginning in England, next, the American colonies, and then throughout the world. Through Me, you set many free from sin. Over time, you developed programs to care for the needy, the outcast, and the youth to share the love of Christ.

But I have this against you. You have walked away from the truth and sought only the praise of men.

The Spirit no longer dwells in your leaders’ hearts; they do not teach the full truth of the gospel. Instead, they twist God’s word. By calling good evil and evil good, they have become the church of Satan and have led many astray.

You left your first love, Christ, and now play the harlot with the world. Instead of freeing the captives, as I commanded, you leave them imprisoned by the sin of sexual immorality. Not only this, but you rejoice in their captive state, claiming they are “free” to express themselves. You even attack My children when they seek to free the captives from their bondage, and you encourage others to assault them as well.

Repent, return to the truth, and be free to live the abundant life. Escape the deception of the world and its warped ideas on sexuality. “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the traditions of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8 NASB).

Remember, in the beginning, God made man and woman to become one flesh only in marriage. If you do not repent, I will come to you like a theft in the night.

To those who have held fast to the truth and have not been deceived by the world’s teachings on sexuality, “hold fast until I come” (Revelation 2:25 NASB). You will receive your heavenly reward.

Blessed be the brothers and sisters in Africa who reject these false teachings promoted by their mother churches. Though many of you are poor, in the Lord you are rich. Stand firm.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
